day 4 network (before greenhouse investigation)
Your friendly neighborhood void monitor is here with a report of both good news and bad news. Let's get the bad news out of the way first, shall we?
Bad news: The void is, indeed, moving and growing. There's been some movement over the past few days.
Good news: The void has grown, but only by no more than ["a couple of inches" converted to its centimeters equivalent because he uses metric], at that. If its rate of encroachment stays at what it currently is, and doesn't, say, start exponentially accelerating all of a sudden, there's still a good amount of time before it becomes a more urgent cause for alarm.
[ In other words, as worrying as the notion itself is, there's no need to panic right this instant; he simply wanted to give a heads up, is all.
A couple of inches over a couple of days, approximating to an inch a day. It'd take a month for the fastest-moving part of the void to move, like, 2 feet. Still plenty of time before it becomes a real issue, Merlin thinks to himself. He's worked with tighter deadlines than that before. (But he also had a lot more in the way of resources when dealing with said tight deadlines too, so...ugh.)
That said, he's also hoping he didn't just jinx them all by saying that... Curses have a way of getting their tendrils into their targets when they least expect it. ]
Pretty big "if", though. So, don't do anything that might feed it and help it grow bigger and faster, okay? That's the last thing any of us need right now.

[ The mage will simply be out and about around town to check up on the void, as per his self-imposed responsibility.
Anyone who decided to wander a bit too close to the void for whatever reason, be it out of curiosity or not, will be met with the sound of a few gentle taps on the ground with his staff to alert them of his presence, to jostle them from whatever whispers they might be hearing nearby. ]
