[ The blackness is what catches his attention. The void grows. Or perhaps, it was already there, but simply hidden away. Either way, he frowns, analyzing what he can through the video feed. Did that darkness grow from the town inside out, or outside in? The trip to the train is a long one, so he has to weigh between spending the rest of his morning to make the trek there to check it out in person, and asking Nao to do it in his stead...

Oh right, yeah, he should also probably say something about the sudden cutaway too. It didn't sound like some creature crashed the party or some part of the train suddenly broke off and fell to the ground with a sudden earth-shattering kaboom... ]

[ Nevermind that her reply comes at least an hour later. There is clearly nothing to worry about -- for them, anyway, and Nao isn't exactly worried. Well, now. ]

Can you really blame people for doing so? Even if this place wasn't infested with demons, the whole "video transmission suddenly cut off" thing would make anyone wonder just what happened there.

Every time that happens in movies, it's never anything good.

[ Unless it's one of the AIs messing around, but he doubts it, given the lack of chipper commentary before it happened. ]

Do we have a budding movie critic in our midst? Given that we're practically in a horror movie of sorts ourselves, that wouldn't be too out of place.

[ Still, Merlin highly doubts that it was nothing of import, the pause before the video transmission not one of someone taken aback by a sudden threat, else the camera would've continued rolling. ]

[ And now onto another serious matter, now that they've established Nao's well-being and that she hadn't simply been suddenly eaten by a demon there. ]

I suppose it'd be too much to hope that that darkness back there is just some special effects of yours, then. Do you feel anything from it?

[ Just doublechecking if it's the same kind of void, that densely concentrated mass of malice and curses that's engulfed the east side of town, or not. ]
