Ace is a major-league loser and panics when he's in any danger at all. Since he can't take care of himself, someone had to take care of him, and his dipshit family wasn't up to the task.
He's lucky. His brain broke in a highly specific way, and so I poofed into existence to take care of all his problems and keep Ace's dumb ass alive.
